Critically Acclaimed

Before discovering the field of student affairs, I originally intended to pursue of a career in communication through graphic design. One of my favorite undergraduate classes in the College of Journalism and Technical Communication at Colorado State University was Visual Communication in the Contemporary World, which helped me bridge public relations and graphic design. For some time, I wanted to work with company branding, slogans, and visual communication through icons and logos. The NY Times link above caught my attention, as it provides a fantastic representation of the importance and value behind visual communication. Check out this amazing video, where “[d]esigner Steven Heller traces the evolution of the tiny symbols for each Olympic sport since their appearance in 1936.”
