We just finished GLEE night at Shawn’s (which is usually on Tuesdays, but was bumped to tonight due to Valentine’s Day), and I was completely blown away by the amazing performance of I Will Always Love You by one Miss Mercedes Jones, aka Amber P. Riley. Seriously, the song was filled with such true and deep emotion that you could feel it bursting through the screen. Apparently, Amber recorded the studio track the night before Whitney Houston’s passing, and the song was already planned for the episode, which despite the eerie timing, provided a beautiful tribute to the beloved singer.

I know that many have criticized the show and the wonky storylines and whatnot, but I must say I’m happy for what they’ve done with her character this season, and believe she is an incredible actor/singer. If you missed the episode, check it out! And while you’re at it, watch last year’s Valentine’s episode, which features some of my favorite Warbler moments (Silly Love Songs!!), as well as the Kurt/Blaine beginnings. :)

In Farmington, N.M., we saw the coolest pair of signs EVER! Hilarious.

I visited a church today with Janelle, and the sermon was about Choosing Joy. The youth pastor was preaching this Sunday, and he shared this video. It is hysterical, and I couldn’t stop laughing! I think I will try starting my days this week like Jessica demonstrates in the video, and see if it changes my week. You should, too!

GLEE-Inspired Flash Mob at Ohio State

The opening of the brand new Ohio Union at The Ohio State University paid homage to GLEE, with a fantastic flash mob dance, set to the GLEE Cast rendition of Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin’. Thanks to my friend and colleague Kristen for sharing. Awesome!

In Spring 2011, the University of Texas at Austin will open our new Student Activity Center. I am starting a movement to include a GLEE-inspired flash mob for our opening, too! Would you like to see a Longhorn Flashmob, too?
